IT/Training Bus

The Aston pride vehicle is a high specification mobile youth outreach vehicle based on a new Alexander Dennis ALX400 double deck vehicle. Following the huge success of a similar single deck vehicle launch in Birmingham known as the ‘Midnight Bus’ the Aston Pride vehicle aims to engage with young people with little hope of employment and who may be drawn into gang culture and crime.

The vehicle is divided into several areas with different activities to help and engage with the young people.

The entry doors incorporate a disabled book leaf ramp to ensure access to wheelchair bound people.

Immediately inside a kitchenette has chilled water available and a microwave oven and fridge.

Next to the kitchen is a 3 person IT unit with illuminated panels, computers and stainless steel key boards, and X boxes.

On the RHS rear of the staircase is a fully equipped toilet compartment with automatic ventilation and lighting.

To the rear of the lower saloon, through the central door is a lounge area fitted with black leather trimmed U shaped couches for meetings and discussions.

Up the staircase to the upper saloon the front of the vehicle incorporates a one to one room with 2 black leather trimmed seats and a bi fold door with small window.

To the LHS rear of the one to one room is a large display board that is used to show the activities available.

Behind the staircase on the RHS is a small kitchen that can supply hot drinks etc.

Opposite the kitchen is a black leather trimmed lounge seat for people to have a break whilst watching the 37” LCD TV fitted above the staircase.

Through the central double doors of the partition you pass into the main IT training lounge, which is fitted with 12 individual positions and high specification computers that are internet enabled.

The whole vehicle interior is trimmed in velours and leather to give a warm and inviting interior. The lower saloon ceiling with its central halogen lit panels is trimmed in lilac velour, whilst the upper saloon ceiling panels are trimmed in vivid purple.

The power and computer equipment is housed in the lower saloon rear section that is not accessible for the visiting youth. A large 11kw generator is fitted with adequate sound insulation to power all the vehicles electrical systems. Heating is provided via Eberspacher diesel powered units, and air conditioning is provided via under seat units on both floors.
