The Blackpool Pregnancy Advice Unit was designed to fulfil two distinct functions; A sexual health advisory service to young people, with the facility to perform in strict privacy a pregnancy test, and during the evenings to become a general youth outreach vehicle.
The vehicle is divided into three distinct areas that fulfil different functions.
The double entry doors house a book leaf ramp to enable wheelchair access.
Upon entry there are display boards and leaflet racks along with a secure staff wardrobe.
In the center of the vehicle is a large cherry red velour trimmed lounge with both music and LCD TVs. And two IT stations with computer games.
Through the middle partition and up the steps is a double kitchen with all facilities including hot and cold on demand water, microwave, water boiler, fridge, storage etc.
The rear section of the vehicle is the special area for the sexual health screening.
A lockable and sound insulated door leads to the area with a large toilet to the LHS rear that incorporates all facilities and a sliding sample hatch to the nurse reception.
Within the clinical area a patient couch and nurse desk are fitted to enable all discussions to take place in private.
All the vehicle windows are internally covered in bronze solarfilm to give additional privacy to every one on board.
The vehicle incorporates an onboard generator and diesel powered heating system. |
