The 3 new Ruskin vehicles are known as ‘Active Traina’ units. Two vehicles are based on MCV 12m Evolution bodies and one vehicle is based on an Optare Tempo 12.3m body. All three vehicles are used for youth training.
The air conditioned vehicles are high tech mobile play and training units incorporating a host of facilities.
The vehicles are divided into sections, with the front section incorporating equipment such as a disco system and mixer, cd decks, electronic drum kits, i-pod mixer, Playstations and x-boxes.
IT stations with illuminated facias, stainless steel roller ball key pads, high spec computers etc. The middle section incorporates a kitchen with hot and cold pumped water, boiler, mixer taps, mini fridge, microwave, overhead storage cabinets, and a toilet compartment fitted out with a cassette portable toilet, vanity unit with hot and cold pumped water, automatic lighting and ventilation etc. Also in the centre section a deep buttoned leather trimmed lounge with occasional tables is fitted, and 2 LCD TVs with DVD players.
To the rear of the vehicle is the training centre that houses 10 lap top stations each with its own HP docking station and telephone. The tutor sitting at the rear of the IT suite has a linked computer to all the laptops to enable him to conduct a lesson. A direct Interface with Job Centre Plus is available from the vehicle via the internet and on board phone system.
The object of these courses is to encourage young people to engage in education and training courses available through the companies local facilities.
To enhance the vehicle capabilities, full satellite connectivity and Sky broadband is fitted, large screen LCD Tvs with DVD players are fitted to all areas including and exterior facing unit with wi.
A twin diesel powered heating system ensures the vehicles are kept warm, and a rear mounted silent running diesel generator supplies the power requirements for the vehicle.
Externally the bright silver livery is clad with a distinctive vinyl scheme, and a 30m/2 extension room can be clipped to the vehicle side to give additional space for activities.
Full disabled access is provided by means of a bookleaf entry ramp that allows a disabled person access to all the facilities but the extreme rear of the vehicle.
The Optare Active Traina also boasts a full mirrored ceiling with striking central wave flash and additional disco equipment.
